Process Controller – Water Treatment
We’re looking for a sharp, hands-on Process Controller to run and optimize our water treatment plant. If you know your way around Media Filtration and Reverse Osmosis systems and have a background in Chemical Engineering or Water Science, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and control RO water treatment plants to meet production and quality targets
- Conduct routine sampling, lab testing, and analysis of raw water, process streams, and final product
- Optimize chemical dosing for pre-treatment, membrane cleaning, and CIP processes
- Troubleshoot process deviations, membrane fouling, and equipment faults to minimize downtime
- Perform start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures according to SOPs
- Maintain accurate shift logs, production records, and compliance documentation
- Ensure adherence to SHEQ standards, water quality regulations, and environmental compliance
- Work closely with maintenance and lab teams on preventative maintenance and plant improvements
- Participate in shift work, standby duties, and callouts as required
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: National Diploma/N6 in Chemical Engineering, Water Care, Water Science, or related field
- Experience: 2+ years’ operating UF and/or RO plants in industrial, municipal, or food & beverage environment
- Technical Knowledge: Membrane filtration principles, CIP protocols, water chemistry, pumps, valves, instrumentation
- Skills: Strong analytical ability, problem-solving, attention to detail, computer literacy for SCADA/PLC systems
- Other: Valid driver’s license, medically fit for shift work, able to work in confined spaces and at heights
Nice to Have
- NQF 4 Water Treatment Process Controller certification
- Knowledge of SANS 241 and Blue Drop/Green Drop standards
- Chlorine handling or hazardous chemical training
