10m3/h drinking water plant for retail centre

Problem Statement

Loftus Office Park has been relying on municipal water supply for drinking water. This has been costing them R5000 per day. They have an excess of ground water and storm water that they pump out of their basement. Treating this water to drinking water standards would save them money on municipal water and save the wasted excess storm water.

Solution

Watericon supplied, delivered and installed a 10m3/h drinking water plant to treat the excess storm water. The plant consists of upfront disinfection followed by a sand filter to remove suspended solids and an activated carbon filter to remove organics. An RO was installed to reduce the TDS. Chlorine dosing was also included after the RO to stop any bacterial growth in the product tank. The output water meets SANS 241 Drinking Water Standards.

Process

  • Oxidation/ Disinfection
  • Multimedia filtration
  • Chemical Dosing
  • Reverse Osmosis

Result

  • The implementation of the 10m3/h drinking water plant slashed municipal water usage.
  •  It also reduced the amount of storm water/ ground water being pumped to the municipal drainage system.
